Had a rude awakening when I went for way, by receiving orders to proceed to Gun Pits, arrived there at 4.45 P.M. About a quarter of an hour after arriving the position got severely strafed & the dirty dog continued all night long, & pretty near got my pit
Turned out at 8.30 AM this morning after a warm reception all night.
Received orders to pack up and return to Australia, left Robecq gun position at 11.30 AM after being shelled for 5 hours had to go 2 miles out of my road to escape barage that was put on the road I should have taken
after good nights sleep left La Flandre at 11.30 for Aire where I am to catch train for coast at 2.30 PM all going well. Arrived Saint Omer at 4.30 PM and proceeded to Caserne Barracks for night as no trains leave for Boulougne till 1.30 PM tomorrow
Turned out at 8 AM had breakfast. left Saint Omer at 2.30 PM for Boulogne arrived there at 8.45 PM had tea at Coppins billets quite a different place to when I arrived here in September Had stew & bread Butter turned into a soldiers comfortable bunk
turned out at 6.30 AM had breakfast at 7 AM had porridge & egg. quite a splendid meal for a soldier. Left Boulogne at 12.30 PM for England arrived Folkstone at 5.10 PM caught train for London where I arrived at 7 PM had tea & got fixed up for night at 8 PM
Reported A.I.F H.Q. at 9.30 AM received orders to proceed to Weymouth at 2 PM from Waterloo Station arrived at No 2 Command depot Weymouth at 6.45 PM had good tea & turned in for good nights rest.
at 8.30 AM went up for classification for Australia & was fixed up in good style Had dinner at 12 noon & went down esplanade for walk after. Came back from walk & had sleep. wrote letter to Aunt Eva, Hayden & Home. Turned in at 9.45 PM.
A very quiet, day we are having splendid weather, and the country side is a picture. Had supper after writing letters & went to bed
Raining all last night Turned out at 7 AM to be classed into companies for duration here. fixed up at 3.30 PM in 4 company 73 hut
Warned for D10 carrier today, so won’t be long now. before I am afloat again bound for Australia
Plenty parades, kit inspections, Medical inspections, and Boat ticket collecting
